I know for a damn fact y’all mods won’t read past a sentence that even hints that it’ll call you out, but at least the users who make your site run will read it, and that’s enough for me.
I have been on Everskies since January 21st of this year. That’s more than five months of being on this website. I remember there being an average of at least 20,000 daily users at this time.
Less than two weeks into my time here, the developer and his girlfriend (who was also a staff member) were called out for a multitude of bigoted “jokes,” including explicit r#pe jokes. What happened? It took more than a day for a response from said girlfriend, who blamed her behavior on language barriers, and she was removed from the staff team. Some users planned to protest by refusing to use the site for an entire month, but many of them gave in within three days. This situation was quickly forgotten, but I noticed between 5 and 10 thousand lost daily users.
Soon after that, several designers came clean about their mistreatment. They were receiving unequal, unprofessional, and inadequate pay for their contributions to the clothing catalogue. They were banned, muted, and silenced. The developer and head designer came clean with unclear statements that did not even answer the questions they were asked.
I'm not entirely sure where on the timeline this took place, but a poll was created on the Everskies Discord server sometime in 2020 asking whether users wanted to see hijabs in the clothing catalogue. This was brought to light sometime this year in 2021. It should not be questioned whether someone deserves to be represented or not, and this highlighted their Islamophobia.
After this, it had become a daily routine to see racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and transphobic posts. These posts took a concerningly long time to be deleted by forum moderators, but were forgotten after a few hours.
Today, a designer by the name of Ciaga, created a masculine black set for users to wear and published it to the clothing catalogue. Another designer accused Ciaga of plagiarism with zero evidence to back up this false claim. Ciaga was quickly banned and the set was removed from the catalogue. Most users are outraged, and rightfully so. Staff members are being called out once again for their blatant bigotry and react with immaturity, choosing to censor users and abuse their authority powers. Users are planning a protest again.
This past month, I have struggled to see more than 7,500 average daily users on this site; which is a massive difference and obvious decline from the user activity five months ago. Everskies Staff plan for the site to grow a large and successful platform, but fail to realize that this goal is incredibly unrealistic if they do not both acknowledge and abolish their flagrant bigotry, ignorance, and feigned innocence.
This site will be run into the ground if this horrendously abusive behavior on the staff’s behalf is continued. The Everskies Staff members who act this way are at fault, but so are the members who are silent. Those who are against bigotry but stay silent are equally at fault. Silence is compliance, and I blame EVERY single staff member. I don’t care if you’re scared of losing your rank, your free StarPass, your friends, or anything else that is obviously minuscule in comparison to your morals, or lack thereof. You either speak out and separate yourself from your bigot colleagues, or you’re considered just as rotten as they are.
Do something before it is too late for redemption.
